The measure was introduced by Senator Sanders of Vermont.
The Senate voted against legislation this past week that would have blocked the sale of tank rounds to Israel. This legislation and two others were proposed by Senator Bernie Sanders. This is the second of his motions to be blocked, and the third one, which proposes blocking shipments of GPS systems for bombs to Israel, is likely to be struck down as well.
U.S. military support for Israel is widely supported by both parties, with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York voicing his support ahead of the vote. “Israel is surrounded by enemies dedicated to its annihilation,” Senator Schumer said.
